Welcome to Day 8 of Breathe Through Your Breakup!
I might know a thing about self-compassion and allowing myself to feel my own feelings NOW, but I used to invalidate my feelings ALL the time and didn’t even know it.
I used to say things like:
“We’ve been broken up for a while, I shouldn’t feel this way.”
“They were so awful to me, I shouldn’t have any feelings for them at all.”
I constantly measured and qualified my feelings, as if there were “legitimate” reasons to feel sad, and then there… weren’t.
But that’s so incredibly off and wrong (and a product of societal conditioning), and today I hope that if you are anything like I was, that you’ll embrace today’s meditation and truly receive this message.
So allow yourself to get comfy, grab a pillow and blanket if you feel called, and let’s jump in.
